Friday, December 16th

3rd, 5th, and 6th periods

Today, students had time to finish A#8.  They did Activity part 1 and 2, MS, Stretching, W to L.  I changed the instructions for the Practice section.  Students chose one of the scientists referred to in the reading passage and did research on his atomic experiment.  They then wrote a summary paragraph of that experiment.  Lesson A#8 will be checked off on January 3rd, when we return from break.

Today, students displayed their posters during the Element poster gallery walk.  Everyone took notes about 2 elements other than their own, and turned in the notes, rubric, and poster.

Today students got graded quizzes back and we went over the answers.  Quizzes can be retaken Thursday, Monday, or Tuesday before or after school or by appointment.

Next, we finished lesson A#7.  I checked off that it was finished, discussed some periodic table vocabulary, and did a check in question.

Welcome back from the long weekend! Just three weeks left before our 2 week holiday break.

Today, we finished up A#5 with a discussion of the making sense questions and the check-in.  Then we started A#6.  You will do the analysis (1-13), making sense and practice questions.  I gave out a Periodic table to help with the lesson.  There will be more time during the next class period.

Lastly, there will be a quiz on Friday over A#2 - A#7.  I will give out practice for the quiz later in the week.

Today, I handed tests back and went over the key.  I also explained how to do test corrections to earn back 75% of missed points.  If you are not happy with your score, corrections need to be done by next Monday (November 7th).  We also started the Alchemy unit with a unit ChemCatalyst. Today we finished the Observation game.  We also did a check-in for MM#4 and started MM#5.  We did the ChemCatalyst and I assigned Analysis #1-9.  I will give 10-15 minutes of work time on Friday before I check off Analysis 1-9.

Monday, September 19th

Today in class, I returned graded journals.  If you feel like I missed something and didn't give you points, please show it to me and I will regrade it.

We continued work on MM#4.  I defined some vocabulary words, we collected class data, and I gave students time to work on the Analysis and Practice questions.  They will be due at the start of class on Tuesday/Wednesday (next class period).

We started MM#4 All That Glitters.  Students did the Activity in class and will work on the Analysis and Practice on Monday.

I collected journals to grade over the weekend.

We continued working on MM#3, and I gave work time in class.  You need to complete the making sense, stretching, practice, and application.  It is due at the start of the next class period.  If you didn't finish in class, it is homework.

4th period

Monday, September 12th

In class today, we went over the safety quiz.  Retakes will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before or after school or during THOR.

Also, we continued to discuss MM#3, Whatsa matter?  We worked on the Activity in class.  Next class period, you will be expected to do Making Sense, Stretching, Practice, and Application.  I will give you some time to work on it in class.

Lastly, if you haven't yet turned in your signed Safety contract, get it to me by the next class period. You will not be able to do the lab for MM#4 without it.
